location of installation?

When I use rpm -ivh filename-ver_no-i386.rpm

how can I know where the files has got installed?

I have installed lapack-3.02.18-i386.rpm

and I would like to use the subroutines in the package...

I use the following command to compile:

g77 filename.f -ldxml
(I dont know if this method of linking is corredct or not? I read it somewhere and tried to use that...)

In C programming I use cc filename.c -lm to link math.h

But the following message comes up when I am trying to link in fortran...

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ldxml
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Hope some one can help me compile my programs...

Immediately following installing with RPM do this (as root)

#locate -u

This will take a few minutes to rebuild your locate database. Switch back to your normal user and then do

$locate the-file-you-are-looking-for

Cheers--
