I heard some people could install Linux Mandrake 9.0 on a Windows partition using lnx4win. I checked the download files at the mandrake website and lnx4win only existed in Mandrake 7.2 or below.

Why did they take it out?? Or does it still exist and I don't know!

Mandrake should put it back. Put it back!!! No!!! Bad, Mandrake, Bad, no buscuit for you!

It is also very easy to use something like Partition Magic to split your hard drive. Running Linux on a FAT32 will slow things a bit. I don't believe you can even run it on NTFS.

The interesting thing is I went ahead and tried to install 7.2 on my HD (using lnx4win) anyway and I got some errors. I'd like to try some partition-less distros which are easy to install and use where I can just allocate some space in my Windows partition and without having to use a dual-boot. Maybe like an icon on the desktop kind of thing. It should also be easy to use like Mandrake claims to be (But I wouldn't know becuz i never got a chance to use it). Anybody know of another distro of this kind.

honestly, you need to stay away from special "distros" like these that claim to be able to run "inside" windows. I have never seen one work for long.

Linux is an OS in its own right, worthy of its own partitions and file systems. C'mon man... nad up! Install Linux the correct way man! nah... jk :-) It really isnt that difficult, If you can post intelligent posts like you're doing Im sure you can get it done!
