linux kernel panic measures

Hello,

I'm a gentoo 2.6.12 kernel user... Every once in a while, I get a crash here and there, but nothing serious, and usually while closing the computer down.

I'm wondering, besides the Magic Sysrq keys, is there any other goodies that you would suggest to put in the kernel at debug time? Looking at google, I see LKCD, but it seams as if this project is old since kernel 2.2 ...

thanks

Huh, every once in a while kernel crash...I would seriously consider checking my hardware or kernel config since "every once in a while" is not an option when talking about Linux kernel!

correct, I've got a preference for built in modules with often used drivers, or core drivers, and module for the others...

but what I want is a way to trace those crashes and hangs... that's the question basically...
