OK linux is not known as a gaming platform
BUT there are some out there and a few are pretty good
so what do you think are the best games for linux and where can they be gotten
these are web sites for games but what I wanted was games people here had tested
at one time of another I have tried to get a lot of these games working and most would just not build or not run
I would rather find out weather or not the game works before
I waste time on something that will not even build or run
wasting time playing a game is one thing
wasting time meeting dependences and finding out that the game will not even build or run is something I would rather not do
Even confirmation of games, successfully building and running (which i can give for many of those games) for others, is no guarantee that it will do the same for you. They all work, it's just that some may need more attention than others.

Somebody has to do it. Why not give something back?
If you want to minimise the risk of a game not building or running, stick to those provided by your repositories. Needless to say, using that method will mean, there are many games you will miss out on.
thank you
the what are the best linux games thread
was what i was looking for
I'm setting up a linux computer for my nephews they are HARD core gamers I'm tiring spark an interest in computers in them I'll show them some games then hand the rest in source code and make them install them (I will test them then uninstall them )
BUT the games have to build and have to work or they will walk away and never come back
You forgot quake4, urbanterror, openarena, war$ow, neverwinter nights, X2, America's Army, Defcon, Darwinia, Uplink, Prey, etc. It was discussed in the past, many times.
