linux and webcams: success?

i've been told that webcam.sourceforge.net has a list of webcams compatible with linux. i was wondering if anyone has any other webcams not included in this list and if they have been successful in getting it work. i personally own a logitech quickcam web (square shaped, usb) and haven't seen anything about compatibility with linux (logitech says they have no linux drivers for any of their quickcams and that those projects are "under development").

i'd also like to know what webcam software is out there for linux.

oops. sourceforge is it. sourceforge is a pretty widely known linux internet portal, fyi. i'm modifying the original post - thanks for letting me know.

(punt is a long-time nickname. i'd change my userid on this forum if i was able to to something more "feminine," but ... too late now, i guess)

I got my IBM webcam working on a Mandrake system that is not listed on sourceforge.. quality was not that good though so i just let it go. And I knew it was supposed to be a sourcforge but i just could not think of trying webcam instead of webcams.

it did not have it but a friend of mine gave me a homepage to download a program and it just worked with that program. I am not sure where i downloaded it. I did not really care because i am not really into it. I'll ask him if he still knows the website for it.
