Linking LS to 'L'

Hi,

I have just installed Slackware 9.1. In Mandrake 9.0/9.1, 'ls' could be run by entering just 'l'. This made things much quicker- especially when looking through lots of folders. I tried the obvious, creating a link (in /bin) to 'ls', called 'l'. This worked, but it wasn't in colour. How do I get 'l' to do exactly the same as 'ls'?

Also, whilst I'm on the subject of getting ls to be in colour, the command 'ls ¦ less' doesn't give colour either. Is it possible to get around this- If so, how?

l for ls requires an alias (man bash, search for alias)
type "alias" to chk your aliia

man ls, search for color

use more instead of less

Thanks Arnold,

I have set up aliases and they work fine, but there is still one problem. Neither 'more' nor 'less' give a colour output. Does anybody know how to get round this?
