Lilo.conf: can't boot windoze

Hi All,

I'm sorry to post this. I had thought I found the answer in another post here, but it did not work.
Below is my lilo.conf (well part of):

menu-scheme = Wb:kw:Wb:Wb
default = Linux
timeout = 80
message = /boot/message
lba32
change-rules
reset
read-only
prompt
boot = /dev/hda

image = /boot/vmlinuz
###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: linux###
label = Linux
initrd = /boot/initrd
root = /dev/hda3
append = "resume=/dev/hda2 splash=silent desktop"
vga = 0x317

other = /dev/hdb1
###Don't change this comment - YaST2 identifier: Original name: windows###
label = Windows
table = /dev/hdb
map-drive=0x80
to=0x81
map-drive=0x81
to=0x80

As you can see I'm running SuSE (9.1 Pro). In the man page of lilo.conf, things should be find for the windows partition. I had used the above before and all had worked fine. My system has not changed. I had only reinstalled SuSE. Does lilo.conf have a syntax rule about tabs or spaces?

Thanks

Just boot with Suse 9.1 DVD
Installation->Repair installed system->Auto
Disk will fix the errors with boot

In most cases lilo can be fixed by typing lilo at the command prompt in linux.
Lilo also has a fix option but I do not think it is nessasary.
boot into linux, type lilo, hit enter and reboot.
Good luck.

If I type "lilo" at the command line, I get the below:

Warning: Kernel & BIOS return differing head/sector geometries for device 0x80
Kernel: 65535 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors
BIOS: 1023 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors
Added Linux *
Warning: Kernel & BIOS return differing head/sector geometries for device 0x81
Kernel: 39704 cylinders, 16 heads, 63 sectors
BIOS: 1023 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors
Added Windows
Added Failsafe

I let the BIOS auto detect the drive. I just reinstalled SuSE 9.1 Pro, and figured it detected things fine. I guess not? This is new territory for me. I'm not sure of how to proceed?

lilo

Some hard drives can not work with lilo properly.
When I run into a disk like this I use a lilo bood disk.
Did this drive work before? Did you re-partition?
Are you sure windows is still there?
I assume you did try to re-boot after typing lilo?
Sounds to me like your bios needs to be re-worked.
You generally get into bios by hitting delete during the first part of boot up.
Most bios' have auto detect routines. If not you will need to enter them manually. Make sure the bios has properlyinitialized the hard drives.
The kernal is almost certainly correct.
The cyls, heads, etc. are written on the hard drive as a rule.
