laptop suspend problem

hey, all... i've been having this nagging problem for awhile and was hoping someone could shed some light on this.

i have a couple laptops with slack8 on them. everything works fine, but when i put them into suspend they freeze upon waking up, and i need to shut them off in order to get back in. it's real irritating, especially when i'm trying to save battery life.

so anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? thanx :-)

i've read about stuff like that with the apm and whatnot... the suspend function on linux is still very badly behaved, and varies from laptop to laptop - check out linux-laptops.net for your model.

that's what i've heard too... but the problem i think is more associated with slackware than it is with my laptop model. redhat on an almost identical machine doesn't freeze, but with slackware it does.

i'll keep look through the docs online... grr this is bugging me. :-)
