Konsole Freeze??!!?!?!

Hey...

I'm running redhat 8.0 with kde and my issue is that recently on a couple attempts to install an rpm (first gaim) my console froze and accepted no input. I found it strange but did not bother....i installed via source. I installed the freepascal rpm...the installation completed but the rpm program never exited and a similar freezing took place...2 strikes. I then tried to install lazarus...froze b4 installation....3 strikes.

Hence i am here in the hope that i can be helped by any one...please respond

could be a problem with RPM. Do you have any big programs running? Your system resources may be sucked up. You could download the latest RPM and update RPM. Try that. Also, are you in X? Try runnin in just console mode (runlevel 3), log in as root and try the installation.

thanx for ur suggestions...

I considered the rpm being at fault...but problem occurs for several rpms.

I considered the programs runnin and went down to runlevel 3 and still there was the same problem....i'm stuck on this one...

furhter help and suggestions will be appreciated...
