keyboard not working when booting from CD

I've booted from 2 different CDs (SUSE 10.3, and PCLOS_2007)--in both cases, the keyboard was inactive when the first screen appeared--I had no way to select the options being presented. I've never had this issue on any other computer.

Dell Precision n690, Xeon dual-core, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD

Any ideas?

Or if that option is not available in your bios like mine. Use a non USB style keyboard.
