Kernel 2.6.0-test3 module Problem

hi every body,

i have managed to successfuly compile ( i hope ) the latest test in the 2.6 series kernel ( 2.6.0-test3 ) however i cannot load or list any modules in my kernel.

when i attempt to do so i get QM_MODULES: Function not implimented

i automaticaly presume that i requre and upgrade because of the new kernel ( ?)

also i am told from reading stuff on the web that the latest ext3 supports extra authentication stuff, 'security labels' as the kernel configuration calls it, from what i have read i also need to upgrade programs like chmod and chown to use these features.

my question is this:

where can i obtain the latest chmod, chown, and the module utilitys from that will work with the updated kernel?

thanks
antken

You need the latest module_init_tools from:

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...rusty/modules/

You may want to check to see if a Mandrake repository may have them?

Well I used Linux 2.6 on Debian SID and it works except my soundcard (= SB64) only tends to be working with OSS ... and OSS is deprecated...

thanks for that

i downloaded version 0.9.13 the download went well however i get the following when i try and do make:
gcc -g -02 -Wunused -Wall -Wcast-align -o insmod.static -static insmod.o
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lc
collect2 ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [insmod.static] Error 1

i presume once again its the wrong version ( ? ) but of which ld or module utils ?

if its ld where do i get an update from?

any idea?

thanks
