KATE crashes on exit...

I have been using KATE for a little while as a notepad. Everytime I close it the thing fires of a SIGSEV signal. What is it? Why is it bad? Is it a bug? Does anyone have this problem? Can you suggest an alternative? I used to use JPad Pro on Windoze and found KATE had similar functionality. I am running KDE 3.03.

Thanks,
Ryan

Is your KDE compiled from source or from RPMs? This error isn't very serious. I has a similar case when I compiled KDE using gcc 2.96. Compilation using gcc 3.1 works good, with the same options used. So maybe consider a recompilation if you find it annoying. If not, leave it as it is.
