jump drive

Can't get my Soyo running RH 9 to recognize a Lexar 2 gig jump drive plugged in the front ports. It's a 2.0 device, but I thought it would revert to 1.0 if it had to. A flash card in reader is properly seen at the same port. Is this a 2.0 driver problem or something else?

Check lsmod to see if the USB 2.0 module is loading and look at the output of the dmesg command to see if the drive is being recognized.

With my Soyo motherboard the flash drive is recognized as sdb using the 2.0 port but sda with the 1.0 ports.

have you added the device to your fstab??

it is most likely recognized as /dev/sda1

so create a folder such as /mnt/jump or whatever you want.. and then mount the jumpdrive to the folder... RedHat 9 did not autorecognize my jumpdrive, and therfor I had to add that... it's very easy... but why not upgrade to FC3, which will hotplug your jumpdrive and pop right up on the desktop when plugged in??
