its a challenge !! (NFS/FTP/Login)

Hi Linux GURUs !!,

I have a couple of problems ..and guess these are inter-related .

I'm using Redhat Linux 2.1 AS .

i> I guess while configuring FTP on my machine i have done some
wrong configuration . Consequently i m not able to connect to this machine via ftp .
It just displays ..

Connected to mymachine

Thats it !!
So currently i m using SCP to transfer the files . ( Bad Workaround option i know !! )

ii> While trying to do ssh/telnet to mymachine .... the login prompt comes quickly .But
when I give username , it takes considerable time ( 25 secs ) .
What could be the reason ??

iii> While trying to do nfs from client machine to mymachine . It gives me the error as follows .

clientmachine% mount -t nfs -o rw mymachine-ip:/testingnfs/ /test
mount: RPC: Timed out

There are iptables installed on mymachine but it has ACCEPT policy for INOUT/OUTPUT/FORWARD .
Moreover I'm able to do nfs from mymachine to clientmachine but not other way around .
What could be the reason ?

For some reason or the other I feel that these 3 queries are interrelated . IS there anyone who

accepts this as a challenge and resolve it .

service iptables stop
