iso image for dvd

I am thinking of getting a DVD burner for the PC. One of the niceties of having this would be the ability to have an entire distro and source on a single disk.

If the distro does not provide a dvd iso image, perhaps I could make one. Anyone done this?

I was thinking of d/l the tree and then copying to media, and then copying the boot code from the CD1. However, I do not know if the boot code (does linux use the floppy emulation that the original boot-able cds used?) between CD and DVD are compatible. Also, the install program may need to be tweaked so that it does not ask for cd2..n.

Thanks in advance for you opinions and help.

its funny but I did a search (or so I thought) of this subject and had no hits. I just did again and I get plenty.

Must have had an errant character or something....

Anyway, there are several other posts here which cover this subject.

Sorry for the extra data....

I used ghost 2003, and i can store my 80 gigs with a full redhat 9.0 on a 4.5 gigs DVD-R.

My DVD is bootable, so i boot up with the dvd inside, and ghost starts automatically!!!

it is a bit complicated to do, ill read my notes and tell you how to do it soon..
