Image at boot

I've seem some picture on the net with some logos/images when they boot the computer

I want that too. How can I do it and most important for a newbie like me, is there any program which helps doing it? Sounds silly but I would ratter prefer a custom boot then Mandrake's default. Probaly is just recompile the kernel and change something that I don't know

Well first of all you need to know which boot loader you are using. I suppose you are using grub. There's the splashimage option. For more information you could check Graphical Framebuffer Console or this mailing list thread

There's also bootsplash. Probably more what you're after.

Well I tried it and it doesn't really work 100% fine using Debian/GNU Linux. A friend of mine is using it on S.u.S.E Linux which I'm no fan of ...
