Icon to text ratio

Is there a specific icon to text size ratio that's aesthetically pleasing?

I have been trying several variations of sizes but non of them looks just right.

Thanks.

I think that would really be a matter of taste. I doubt there's a golden ratio.

I like small.

I don't normally use desktop icons, but, when I use a desktop that has them (such as Lubuntu on the Wubi install on my Win7 box--I need to have a Windows box, but that doesn't mean I have to use Windows unless I must), I normally reduce the size from the default. On my Wubi, I have the icon size set to 28 px and the text to 8 pt.

I'm doing a GRUB gfxmenu theme. The theme allows an icon to be displayed on the left of the menu item. I've tried several icon sizes. The text size is fixed at 12 pts. But for some reason, the various icon sizes just does not look quite right.

I've looked at the ratio used in the menus of apps, but when applied to the GRUB menu, it icons are not emphasized enough.

Now, I'm no graphics artist or expert, so ....

Thanks for the link.
