ok i noticed something.......when booting up with kernel 2.2, if i do a 'dmesg' at the prompt i see that while the kernel is booting it gives a messages saying 'PS/2 Mouse Port Detected'
when booting kernel 2.4, however, that message is nefver displayed........so i narrowed my problem down to the kernel 2.4, it wont let my PS/2 mouse or keyboard work!

i have tried recompiling the kernel and everything.....still with no PS/2 devices working

anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it??

Is this from a 'distro' boot disk or a kernel you built yourself? I had a prob with a ps/2 mouse configured and not connected which caused the keyboard to stop working, and this only after I had set up 'gpm'.
