but data cd's and dvd's (data and otherwise) mount fine. when i insert a music cd i get the following error:
/dev/hda: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hda: can't read superblock
I have read
another post on this topic and did what it said - no help.
finally i tried this: mount -t iso9660 /dev/hda /mnt/cdrom
and i got this error:
mount: block device /dev/hda is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
so when i did this: dmesg | tail
I got this:
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 128
hda: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: command error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 132
hda: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: command error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 0
FAT: unable to read boot sector
here is my fstab:
/dev/sda6 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/sda8 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hda /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec,users 0 0

can anyone helpl me figure out why I cannot mount a music cd?
