howto debug my problem

I have installed a box with redhat el4 using it has a gateway of my network.
In the last days I am experiency a bad problem: the box locksup one time each 2 days randomly.
When it locksup the monitor is blank on the keybord the light of caps and blocnum blink fast.
The only way to get it back is to reset it.

The strange think is that on the syslog there isn't any error, and anything strange.

So I would like to know how to try to find more info about lockup's reason.

Hope someone can help me.

Thnaks
Ros

I would look at dmesg; as root
Code:
dmesg
http://linuxgazette.net/issue59/nazario.html
and /var/log/messages
Code:
tail /var/log/messages

Blinking CAPS Lock and an unresponsive keyboard mean the kernel has PANICked.

The best place to start troubleshooting is the logs (/var/log/messages).

unfortunately there isn't any error or panic message into /var/log/messages

This is my problem, I don't know why I don't have any error or messages just everything is stoped.
