How to uninstall tar.gz apps

OK, newbie question.
I know how to install and uninstall rpm's.
I can install a tar.gz app but how do you uninstall it??????

That's a tricky question, it differs from deleting a single executable to tracking down files across your system, and delete them. Some sources include uninstallers, if so in the source tree directory (the one that was created when you decompressed the tarball), if so
type make uninstall
but not all developers include it

hello,
if there is no make uninstall then checking the dates in the directories in which the files were installed along with checking out the makefile which comes with it.

there is a great app called checkinstall which can create RPM or deb packages out of tarballs.
