I don't know which ftp server you've installed. It could wsftp, proftpd, even ftpd. Try to find out what ftp server you've installed. I use proftpd, so to run it, all I've to do is to type "proftpd start". You can create users to login on your ftp-server later. Default port for every ftp program I came across uses port 21. It can be changed by editing a config file. If you are behind a Firewall/Router, you will need to forward port 21 to the machine running the server, otherwise your ftp won't be accessible from outside your LAN.

Not sure what you mean. If you want remote administration, you will need to install something like sshd-server on your server/ftp machine. You will then be able to login on your server from any other OS. If you want to administrate that machine from another Linux machine, use ssh-client. If you want to administrate that server machine from a Windows machine, I recommend Putty(a ssh-client for Windows).

If you installed vsftpd when installing Fedora Core than there is a very good chance it is already running. FTP normally uses port 21 for commands and 20 for data, unless using passive mode, in which case there will be a range of ports used eg 60000 - 60100

Also if you have used a fedora package then a startup script should already have been installed for you, so you can start it like this: `/sbin/service vsftpd start` though I don't know the name of the script, it could just be ftp or ftpd instead of vsftpd

you configure vsftpd by editing /etc/vsftpd.conf. The best document for telling you what options are available/what they do and how to use them is `man vsftpd.conf`

hi

I did all but have some other questions.

As for now I am able to run FTP server just as ROOT.
How can I do it as user because i am using teamspeak server as well and it must be started not as root???? (I can not browse that folder as user)

How do I manage list of users for vsftpd?

Can I set access rules for each user separately and how?
