how to read from newsgroup

hi,
perhaps this is a trivial question, but I never use the newsgroup.
I want to read info and send faq to linux newgroup, how to do it?

news://comp.os.linux.announce ask me if I want to subscribe, I don't want only to read or send a message.
http://comp.os.linux.announce doesn't respond

Best way is to get a dedicated news client such as pan. ( http://pan.rebelbase.com/ Redhat RPM on the CDs)

Slrn is a good news client. Basically, you need a news client, and a news server to connect to. Your ISP should say what news server they provide, and give you information. There are a few public news servers around, but most are restricted / slow / unreliable. There's always google groups if you prefer, then you don't need either of the above, just a browser
