how to open process?

hi.

Remotely (with putty) I`ve started to compile the kernel on my server, which takes some time, whatever, but I accidentally closed putty window.
OK there is no problem to run putty and login to my server again, but how it is possible to open and continue to monitor the same process?

Please help!

In the future, use the screen command (I automatically run it in my .bash_profile). If your session drops, when you reconnect you just enter 'screen -r'. It's a very useful tool.
