You're trying to install a gcc RPM which is not made for your distribution (it's made for Fedora 15, which has significantly more recent software than RHEL5). If you get yum working, it will download the RPM made for your distribution plus all of the required dependencies and install them for you automatically.

as stated in almost all of the above posts DO NOT use a random rpm from the net !!!
Also the rpm you are trying to install IS NOT for RHEL5 . It is for Fedora 15 ALPHA-testing and will NOT work on RHEL

you are using red hat enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL 5 ) so YOU DID buy the REQUIRED license RIGHT!!!!
if not then DO NOT USE RHEL !!!
install CentOS 5.5 instead

if you DO have a valid RHEL license use "yum" to install gcc and all of it's prerequisites ( as stated above - use the "groupinstall" )

Also PLEASE READ -- a MUST-- the red hat RHEL "user guide"
on the red hat web site .
