How to adjust pointer cusion at edge of windows on KDE

I am using KDE 4.14 and when I go to resize a window my pointer has to be right on the edge before it activates the resize controls. I have, mabey, a one or two pixel cusion. Is there a way to adjust this so I don't have to be so precise. I have tried changing the settings in the mouse section of the system settings such as "Pointer threshhold", "Drag start distance", "Pointer acceleration". these settings don't seem to do anything at all. Do I need a special mouse?

Any help would be most appreciated. This problem has plagued me for years. No amount of Googling seems to get me anywhere. Surely I am missing something simple. I apologize, but, all the same, please let me know what it is. My sincere thanks.

I'm running Slackware 14.1, which has KDE 4.10.5, so there might have been some changes and improvements with 4.14. But I hope this can be useful anyway: in order to handle the windows more comfortably you can change their border's size in the "Workspace appearance" section of the system's settings. Go to "Window decoration", then to "Configure decoration". Select "Window-specific overrides" and add a new one. Then you can change the border's size of the windows, which in turn will change the "grip" range of the mouse as well. After having enlarged the border I can see that it's actually much easier to get the pointer to the "window resize" mode.

Thanks for the response. This method improves the sides and bottom, but not the top. Good to know, all the same. Thank you.
