How secure are backports? will I get security updates?
Let's say you have a linux distribution Ubuntu 8.04 and it comes with Open Office 2.4. Because 8.04 is a long term support edtion (LTS), we get 5 years of security updates for Open Office 2.x.
Suppose I need Open Office 3.0, I can probably get that through the BackPort repository, but will the backported application have security updates as well or will that only apply to the application version that ship with Open Office?
