how mute sound from "Line In" at start up & when not needed
Im not sure if this should be in the newbie section or not, so mods feel free to move this thread.
I have an ATI TV wonder VE tv tuner card which connects to my sound card's line in jack for audio. the problem is that when the system boots up, there is a loud static noise, and upon exiting the tv viewing program (KDEtv) the audio from the last viewed channel keeps going. How do I mute the line in at start up and when I exit KDEtv?
i tried typing in the amixer command, but it says command not found so im guessing that im not using ALSA. i've been doing some reading about shell scripts and i think i can do what i need with them, i just need to know what command mutes line-in, anybody?
It's basically telling you what programs you have installed(that have man pages) which have something to do with "oss" or "mixer" in their description.
It doesn't look like you have much that will help you adjust your mixer settings, but it could be that you just don't have much in the way of man pages.
