Angry How do I remove 'MicroSuck' from Konqueror!?

I followed a link in one of the messages in these forums to a site called "MicroSuck.com" where I browsed a bit. I did not download anything nor approved any downloads while visiting the site. Yet, when I visited CNN.com today and read a story about Microsoft extending Windows98 support (http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/biztech/01/13/windows.support.ap/index.html), it read this:

MicroSuck reverses decision to halt support for older systems

REDMOND, Washington (AP) -- MicroSuck reversed a decision to stop support for some older Windows operating systems, saying Monday some customers in developing countries were not aware of the change.

I went to the same site immediately using Mozilla and all occurances of "MicroSuck" showed up as "Microsoft" as it was intended. I tried to clear my history and cache, etc. in Konqueror then refreshed the page but it STILL showed "MicroSuck" where "Microsoft" was.

As much as I'm not much a fan of Microsoft and especially some of their practices, I'm very miffed that this site happened to sneak something (without my permission) to replace in my browser the word "MicrosSoft" with "MicroSuck".

I do believe MicroSuck.com pulled a Microsoft on me! I LEFT windows to GET AWAY from this type of garbage. This type of thing does NOT seem very flattering to what I thought the Linux community was all about (freedom of CHOICE for the USER, instead of having something forced down their throats - without their permission yet!)

Ok, now that the world knows I'm ticked off, I would like to kindly ask if anyone here can give me info on how to remove this from Konqueror.

This concerns me. Imagine if they can do that, what they could do with other things, viruses, etc.

Tips on how to avoid this type of thing from happening again with future sites I might visit would be also appreciated.

Well. I just went to the site and then came back here and had no problems. In fact, I use Konqueror and Galeon. I have no problems.

Is this even a real thread?

Peace,

Yes, this is real, at least it did happen to me. I just want to know how to remove it, how it got there, and how to keep things like this from happening again. If this site does it, then others could too, doing worse damanage (like censoring out the word Linux which I would *really* hate!!).

It's not that I object to the word "MicroSuck" instead of Microsoft. It's the principle behind it - that somehow something got put in Konqueror to do some page-rewriting and editing without my concent. If a popup had come up ASKING me if I wanted it, at least I could have made a choice to install it and that would have been ok by me. I'd then know what to expect and get a chuckle every time I see it.

But seeing it after I didn't even CHOOSE it, now THAT is a whole different ballgame...

I really didn't think this was possible in linux. But since it is, I'd like to know how to resolve it.

well, i really can't help you myself.

I went out to their site in HOPES of having this happen as I thought it would be greatly amusing. Now I am off to figure out how to make it happen on my own computer. I can think of a few words I would like to filter into something else....

I think this is crap. microsuck.com doesn't even try to set a cookie, much less try to change my system.
