Question How do I load the console only?

I've installed SuSE Linux Pro 8.0 and at the startup lilo uses a graphical interface where I can choose "Linux", "Linux safe settings", "windows" and "memory test" or something, there's also a tex box down the bottom where I can actually write myself, how do I do to load the console only, I mean without loading X?

In file /etc/inittab you'll find a line for the default runlevel.

I think on your system this will currently read:

id:3:initdefault

Change this to:

id:5:initdefault

NB: Make sure you create a backup of this file before making any alterations to it - particularly as this is my first attempt to make a positive contribution to this forum.

Ok I'll try that, but can't I just input some different command instead of linux when it asks whether I wanna load linux or windows? Like "text" or something?

cool, thanks.
It's just to install some drivers and in the README it says we shouldn't load X for some reason.
