How do I disable Fedora 21 mounting local file systems?

Hi,

I'm trying to disable my Fedora 21 system from automatically mounting local partitions. These are constantly mounted under /run/media/root/.

My eternal thanks.

George...

They automatically mounted to /run/media/<user_name> without an entry in the fstab file.

What desktop are you running? i.e. Gnome and KDE you can go to system settings to disable auto mounting.

Hi,

These filesystems are on a hard drive that I do NOT want mounted so they don't have an fstab entry. They represent a cloned system drive.

Desktop is KDE.

Thanks,

George...

Always a gotcha... I have not played with Fedora 21 but typically external media is mounted as described. Without additional information a cloned drive would indicate it would have the same UUID and or volume group name if using LVM. Not sure how the latest OS's handle this but could be as indicated. The above suggestion may not work.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

1) There's NO lvm
2) There's NO UUID present, I remove them
3) I have removed the mount point but it'll come back at reboot.

Put the filesystems in /etc/fstab with the "noauto" option.
