Question How do I change the VGA-Resolution?

Good Moring

Does somebody know how to increase the VGA resolution of the consoles?
When I am issue some long commads like netstat -nap the line is to short so it breaks into two lines and that makes it more difficult to read.

If someone knows how to change it, please tell me.

Greetings
Marcus

This can be a little bit difficult and it will take a lot of time to explain. I suggest you read:

good luck

2.6 kernels from boot loader

Nowadays you can set VGA modes in the boot-loader's kernel line.

my Grub's menu.lst default kernel line:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.xx root=/dev/blah ro quiet ro vga=973

a little flicker while booting, but works great.

I am using 64 bit Debian 5 from Netinst.
