please help..... how can i access the floppy drive.....
like copying.... deleting..... and other commands....
please help on what should i do first.....
thank you in advance......
It's probably already configured as "/dev/floppy" This is how mine is setup. To copy files try, "cp /dev/floppy/filname /path/to/where/you/want/files/"
It is possible to access the floppy with both command line and GUI.
One thing to keep in mind is that, with Linux, additional drives are "mounted" onto the current filesystem. In the case of floppy and CD, they need to be "unmounted" when changing the media. The drive door will not open when a CD is "mounted".
Command line access is virtually the same in any distro.
Exact instructions for GUI access can vary some for different distros and desktops. When you right click on the floppy icon, is there a mount or unmount drive option? If so, that would be the easy way to mount the drive, then access it by clicking on the icon normally.
If you are using Mandrake, there are sometimes problems with the included supermount.
For DOS style access, without needing to mount the floppy, investigate 'mtools'.
man mtools
Good Luck.
