That just simply means you have rebooted your machine a certain number of times, which I beleive is 20, and now e2fsck wants to check the drive consitancey to make sure there are no problems with the drive or the files on the drive. You can also refer to this link for more help:

If you are getting at boot up the message: /dev/hda1 has reached maximal mount count, check forced. There is no problem.
after x number of times rebooting the system, Linux automatically does a sort of scan disk.
You must wait until Linux is done.
If you want to change this :
Log in as root or su
type ex2fstune -c 10 /dev/hdx
where 10 is the number of mount counts
and x the number of the hd indicated by the error message.
