Smile Grub2 fails to load on an AMD cpu

I have built a linux image with GRUB2 as its boot loader and written it on an IDE hard disk. When I put it in a computer with Intel CPU, it works fine. But putting it in an AMD cpu computer, it even fails to detect the HDD and raises the following error:

Quote:
Not found any [active partition] in HDD
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
Also I have tested with grub-legacy, it again works fine. SO it seems that GRUB 1.9* is not compatible with maybe old AMD CPUs.

Please note that the PC under test spec is as follows:
Quote:
CPU TYPE: AMD-K6(tm)-2
CPU-CLOCK: 300
Pri- Master Disk: LBA, UDMA 33, 1040MB
Also note that I have tested in two systems, (two INTEL and two AMD), and still same result

Did you actually set a partition as active/boot(?).
Are both computers using MBR(?).

Nothing to do with grub - that message is from the BIOS. A lame (probably old) BIOS.
Make sure the boot flag is set on a primary partition. And only one partition.

It's not the CPU; it's probably the BIOS. No way to get around that really, except you could try installing Linux directly on the computer, not building an image, but I don't know if that would help any.

You can also try disabling "plug and play" in the bios if that option is available.

Are you mixing 64-bit and 32-bit cpu's?

I'd go straight to bios and see if it does correctly see this drive as what it is and as the first choice in boot both in media choice and hard drive choice.

It is not even getting to grub.

It is not correctly booting to this drive.
