Grub related

Hi,

I have about 10 flavors of Linux installed on my PC.
Now there is a problem that when I change grub option from one OS, it is not reflected while booting. So, it means that grub.conf file is not active.
Now how can I know which grub file is active?

and one more thing how can I make some grub active?for example, if I have fc4, fc5 and suse on my PC. I booted in fc4. Its grub.conf file is not real grub file. But now I want to make it active grub. HOw can I?

Seeking for help
Thanks,

I don't believe there's a (direct) way to know which partition the MBR references - you're expected to know your own setup.
You created it after all.

To use grub from any other system, just do a grub-install from that system. You can also do it manually, entering the appropriate commands - see the manual on the gnu site for grub.
