Grub Over Syscommander

GRUB was previously my boot laoder over system commander. i wrote over the moster boot record with system commander and now system commander won;t give me the option to boot Windows. I want to use GRUB again as my bootup option. What do i do to over write the System Cmmander boot record with GRUB?

If System Commander doesn't offer a restore of the MBR, boot into Linux, make a backup of the MBR to floppy just for "safety": "dd if=/dev/hda of=/mnt/floppy/MBR.dat bs=1 count=512", and reinstall GRUB.

What!!! ur talkingto a newbie here. No idea what your talking about. I would undo the writing of the master boot record in system commander but i can't get into windows where i have that option because system commander isn't showing widows. Thats why i'm trying to use GRUB again. If you could help me get Sytem Commander to show Windows than i could just leave Sys Commander as my booter. Help this newbie out in plain english terms. I have no idea what you said above.

Ok then. Boot into Linux with the recue CD and then issue "grub-install /dev/hda". This will place GRUB back in the master boot record.

Before doing so it would be good to read the piece about installing GRUB: http://www.gnu.org/manual/grub-0.90/...ub_3.html#SEC9
