Great Linux Terminal Apps

I installed a copy of Ubuntu Server 8.04, the main reason was to
finally sit down and learn how to terminal works(I can use the terminal
proficently but I wish to become where I am not tied to a gui as much.
So I was wondering was some good apps that are ClI-based that really
help in the ease of use. From now on I will only browse using elinks and
text editing=nano...

So I was wondering what are some good apps that
are CLI based that help with Standard use..

Thanks for the Help

Define "standard use". I'd use a server as that - a server.

And with that said:
For "word processing" I'd suggest using LaTeX (not necessarily with nano
as the editor because while it's easy to learn it doesn't offer much
support functionality; you really should be learning how to use vim or
emacs if you want to increase your productivity). You can keep your
files in a nice portable, easy to store, edit format that lends itself
to version control with subversion or CVS, and if you need to share them
with others you can easily convert them to PDF.

For "spreadsheet" have a look at sc, for example.

Database(s): whatever blows your skirt - my personal preference is PostgreSQL,
some like mysql, firebird ... you can find tons of apps with web-frontends
which hopefully look appealing in elinks.

Viewing images on a console (assuming you're using frame-
buffer) - have a look at FBI.

Cheers,
Tink
