gpg problem.
Hello.
I want to use gpg to encrypt a file that I can send to someone else, and they will be able to open it by just entering the passphrase that I select.
I have been told that gpg -c filename will do what I want.
However, when I run that command I get the following errors....
gpg: failed to create temporary file `/home/craig/.gnupg/.#4354355654.localhost.435' : No such file or directory
gpg: keyblock resource `/home/craig/.gnupg/pubring.gpg' : general error
Enter Passphrase:
Once I enter the passphrase twice. I get the following...
gpg: can't create `/home/craig/.gnupg/random_seed` : No such file or directory.
I get this whether I am root or not.
I must be missing something? This is the first gpg command I have run on the machine. So if I have to do any setup I haven't done so.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
All I want to be able to do is encrypt a file with passphrase that I select, and be able to give it to other people who will be able to decrypt it using the same passphrase.
I have had a problem in the past where I lost a lot of data thanks to a HDD crash which took the keys with it. I don't want to have to have a certain set of keys to open the file. Just a passphrase.
Thanks
Craig
