I'm a noob and for a bit when I used FC2 back in the day there was a launcher at the bottom that resembled MAC OS. Now it is gone but I noticed it is still in other distros usign Gnome. Where did it go in FC4? Can I get it back? I can't find an option to do it for me.
What do you mean a launcher at the bottom that resembled MAC OS? Are you referring to a icon or possibly a theme? A little more details would probably help in what this launcher did.
I think he means something like the dock. I don't think that is Gnome specific, you might want to check out one of the many projects that try to resemble the Mac dock.
I was wondering why some KDE distros have it and some Gnome ones do too. I say that because some lean to one side or another..Fedora is usually Gnome, Knoppix is KDE...so on.
You can check out the gdesklets website to install the gdesklets program. This program will allow you to run a desklet called "Starterbar" (also found on the site) that mimics the bar on a Mac. I am sure there are other programs that have this functionality, but gdesklets works for me.
P.S. You can use yum to install Starterbar (and gdesklets along with it), provided you connect to the right repository (I believe it is ATrpms).
Originally posted by bushidozen gdesklets for FC3 should work OK.
I can install it. Tried it. I have the dependencies but it says I don't. When I go to get umm off the top of my head it's lib*****.2.so.??? and it says I already have it...
So basically one thing says I have it and the other says I don't. I've tried using the .rpm of gdesklets and the tarbell.
