Angry Gnome 2 Compiling probs

Im recently decided to update from Gnome 1.4 to Gnome 2 but im having troubble compiling some of the packages.

When i ./configured ORBit2 it complianed that linc is not installed so i went back to install that and found that linc was not "make install"ing because
"/usr/bin/ginstall: cannot stat `./html/index.sgml': No such file or directory"

I am installing the packages in the order specified at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.0/insta...tml#buildorder
I am using the tar.gz source files.

I am running on Slackware 8.1, AMD Athalon 700mhz, geforce2 gts, stuff

Ill have a look at dropline gnome but i tend to like sticking with the main packages.

I have also been told that running the make install command as "make -i install" should ignore the error with out any major problems in case somone get a similar problem.

Anyway, I though that you might be interested in the Dropline since that it is, and I quote the site "...is a version of the GNOME Desktop that has been tweaked for Slackware Linux systems. It is available in Slackware's standard .tgz package format, in addition to the usual source code. "
