Gcc
Okay - this may be a stupid question, but I've never dealt with it before, so bear with me.
A few weeks ago I upgraded to GCC 3.0.3 because of problems with 2.9.6 - all went well. I have found since then, that the old GCC 2.9.6 rpms that are were in my RPM database, that I assumed the new source compile I did for 3.0.3 replaced... WRONG. I have since found that I've been compiling programs with two different versions of GCC depending on how that program calls GCC in the makefile. Anyhow, I blew away any RPM that had GCC 2.9.6 in the title.
Since that time, some programs won't compile unless I type:
CC=gcc "insert command here, usually make or configure"
Is there a way I can keep from having to type CC=gcc prior to the command? I tried using an alias, but that didn't work either.
