Why is it that when I ran the Tux Racer game it went extremely slow? I was under the impression that Linux used the machine more efficiently than Windows.Does it have to do with the swap partitions or something? If it's a stupid question I'm sorry but I am a newbie.

i just installed rh 7.2 and tried to play tux racer, and it was extremely slow as well. it looked like a video memory problem, which makes since, the machine ive got it on has only 4mb of video ram.

is this the problem?

It sounds like your using software rendering instead of hardware, but then you only have a laptop and 3d is not the best on them. Have a look for your laptop model at Linux-Laptop for any info on Xfree96, there is are also links to other sites/how-too's for portables.
