Full screen text?

On my laptop (IBM ThinkPad 600x), when I boot up (Slackware 8.1), the BIOS screen takes up the full LCD screen. However, when LILO loads, it's in this little box in the middle of the screen with an inch or two of unused space all around. It's only in the console though, X works fine. Is there a way I can change this? Btw, when I boot Knoppix 3.2 it doesn't have this problem.

Try adding the line

vga=ask

to your lilo.conf (remember to run `lilo` after editing lilo.conf). This will show you what video text modes are available to you. Try different ones to see which you like then replace "ask" with the number of the mode you like.

Or if you use the video frambuffer device read Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt in your kernel source tree.
