Unhappy FSTAB fkup in SuSE 9 x64

I'm on SuSE 9 x64 and was going fine. Then, all the sudden, I can't bootup/login! A t0n of startup services fail, because / is mounted readonly! I go i with a liveeval CD and discover that my fstab has been blanked (0 bytes)!!

I am in the middle of reconstructing it now, but fsck tries to say that the device isn't a valid EXT2 partition. Fdisk (Linux, NOT MS) says is't type 83 (EXT2)! I can access system maintenence mode, but what do I do there? Help!
