File transfer through ftp

Hi all,
iam trying to connect from unix box to windows server 2000 shared folder using ftp.
whenever i use "ftp <hostname> <portname>" it shows connected.i don't know how to transfer file from (\\machinename\test) to (/home/test) once it is connected.

Plz suggest how to proceed and what commands should i use to carry out the same.

Note:I can't use WINSCP,SAMBA,Core ftp.

Thanks in advance !

First result, contains a comprehensive list of FTP commands, including examples. How is that unsatisfactory?
If you are having a specific problem when issuing commands, post the details, LQ isn't the place for howto's and step by step guides, there are plenty of other sites out there that provide that information, which will be found by a google search.

jitu,
ftp commands as suggested are what you need to know/learn.

lcd
cd
put
mput
get
mget
prompt
pwd

are at minimum the 8 you need to understand intimately.
