Embeded Linux on Ti calculators?
While doing my trig test today i thought about is it possible to put linux on Ti-83 or higher graphic calculators (and i didnt finish the test )
As far as i know the calculator has some ram, and a small processor, just of pure curiosity, isit possible to put linux on it? and how hard would that be?
Thanks in advance.

Thats a great idea, but Linux was designed for 386 processor in mind. 386 supports Virtual Machines and I am not sure that TI 83 or even TI-89 will be able to run Linux. Calculators are also skim on ram. But who knows with enough time on your hand you might be able to implement a TI version of Linux kernel.
Is it possible? Of couse everything is possible, it won't be linux but something that might ressembe linux.
Is it a good idea? I don't think so, just my opinion, I could be wrong!
There's possibly some development along those lines... for whatever purpose! The Linux kernel has been ported to so many architectures these days that I wouldn't say that it's for the x86 arch only. It runs on all sorts, including watches! http://www.google.com/linuxmight yield some results. Happy hunting.

Sure it would be sweet top have a little "nskl@TI# prompt.
I have no time to learn about doing something like this, but as soon as i get out of high school i will attempt this, i think it'll be cool, i know i still have a long time to finish school but at the present i dont have the knowledge to port a linux kernel to run on TI.
Maybe in a couple of years i will release a TI Linux tho...
Thanks for help guys..
