Effecient filesystems in a server environment

I'm after some opinions on what the most effecient file systems are.

The filesystems are to be used on a computer with 2 200 GB hard drives.

One hard drive is going to hold MP3's and will spend the majority of it's day steaming to a number of users. The other hard drive will have about 180 GB of data copied to it every week, but go unused the rest of the time.

Any built in FS level prevention of data loss would be good.

Thankyou for your opinions

There are several journelled filesystems for linux now, ext3, reiser, jfs, sfx, etc... I use ext3, but reiserFS is considered the fastest all rounder... I used in the past, but went back to ext3 for compatibility reasons - but all these are included in the linux kernel...

Yeah, i've been reading a few things about the latest journaling file systems. I was just hoping people might have had experience with say...streaming multiple files on an XFS system and had some comments regarding performance.

RE:Effecient filesystems in a server environment

I don't remember 100% but I think that I read once that XFS and ReiserFS are in general basically equal.

However XFS is better at serving multiple big files and ReiserFS is better at serving many small files. But without using a stopwatch and a graphic plot print (of the microscopic differences), in general you will not notice the difference.

EXT3 is a journalled FS like XFS and ReiserFS however it keeps the K.I.S.S. motto, Keep It Simple and Stupid.
