Question double keymap problem

im Using slackware 12 2.6 kernel on my laptop. The keyboard distribution is french. But Iam hispanophone so I need to read in spanish the problem is that the special spanish characters are not well displayed on screen. They are replace with some other characters. So If change the keymap I read perfectly but I cant type Properly. Is there anyway to display 2 keymaps but use only one to type?
thanks
CORRECTION: Even changing the keymap i still cant see the spanish special characters
