Distro similar to slackware?

I want a distro when started up starts in a command line like slackware and when i want to open up X i just type startx.. any distros that do that besides slackware?

Any distribution you want will do that; just don't start xdm or any other X/Login session manager in runlevel 5, or just configure it so the default runlevel is 3.

to do that, open /etc/inittab and change the run-level for your current distro. You will find the values in the file itself.
